Lebanon First bloc MP Okab Sakr told Future News on Sunday that Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s speech about sedition was not a response to Hezbollah General Secretary Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s one.
Hariri said on Saturday that there would not be any conflicts in Lebanon. Sakr criticized March 8 media reports that considered Hariri’s speech to be addressed to Nasrallah, who said on Thursday that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) would indict Hezbollah members for the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
The Resistance leader’s words have increased tension in Lebanon and sparked a war of words between March 8 and 14 alliance figures.
The MP said Hariri’s words about those who wish for a sectarian strife in Lebanon refer to Israel and some insignificant figures who are allied with Hezbollah.
Sakr said that he does not expect Hezbollah to jump to conclusions and flare up a war since the indictment has not been issued yet and criticized reports about Sunni fundamentalists saying that there are fundamentalist groups in all sects; however, they are contained.
