A source from the Future Movement told Kuwaiti newspaper As-Seyassah in an interview published on Monday that Prime Minister Saad Hariri wants to defuse tension in Lebanon, which is why he did not respond to Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s last Monday press conference.
Media reports expected Hariri to respond to Nasrallah’s Monday presentation of a video footage, which the latter said implicates Israel in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
In his Saturday speech, PM Saad Hariri said he would respond to latest Lebanese developments, including those related to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), when the time was right.
The source told As-Seyassah that the PM believes maintaining a stable situation in Lebanon is a national interest.
Hariri supports justice and has full confidence in the STL, the source said, adding that any information pertaining to the murder of Rafik Hariri should be submitted to the tribunal.
