PRESS REVIEW

August 9, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Al-Liwaa publishes scenarios related to Nasrallah’s speech

Al-Liwaa newspaper quoted an unnamed source on Monday as saying that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah will reveal during his Monday evening press conference, information that the party possessed before the Ansariya – a town in southern Lebanon – maneuver in 1996 when Hezbollah sabotaged an Israeli Commandos Force operation.

According to Al-Liwaa, an individual named A. Nasrallah who is not related to the Hezbollah chief managed to become close to former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and claimed that a group from Hezbollah planned to assassinate Hariri.

A. Nasrallah said that this group included Imad Mugniyah, one of Hezbollah’s top security commanders, who was killed in Syria in 2008.

The former PM, however, discussed this matter with former Syrian Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam who refuted the claims.

According to Hezbollah’s investigation with A. Nasrallah, it turned out that A.Nasrallah aimed to blackmail Hariri.

Al-Liwaa also reported that the Hezbollah chief might reveal information which shows that Hariri played a role in the kidnapping of Elhanan Tannenbaum, an Israeli businessman, in 2000.
