If the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s (STL) indictment is “based on political accusation, we will refuse it,” Lebanon First bloc MP Ahmad Fatfat said in an interview with the Kuwaiti newspaper al-Rai set to be published on Sunday.
“If the indictment is based on definitive evidence, we will embrace it,” he added, saying that he would not be concerned by any media reports or political statement, and would wait for the tribunal’s own statement.
Minister of State for Administrative Reform Mohammad Fneish said Friday that Hezbollah will deliver to the Lebanese authorities information requested by the STL, after a Monday press conference during which Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah showed video footage and the confession of an alleged spy which he said implicate Israel in former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s 2005 assassination.
Fatfat also questioned why Nasrallah would withhold some information, saying he was “attempting continual pressure on public opinion and hinting that there is more.”
“If he has other information, why not put it at the disposal of the international investigation today?” Fatfat asked.
