Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Wednesday noted that "the reason behind the campaign against the Internal Security Forces is that this institution has been active and played an essential role in the course of the investigations of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon."
During a side chat with reporters in Maarab, Geagea said that "the campaigns against the president, the premier and the Internal Security Forces are being launched because some parties don't want the rise of an actual and potent State."
"The State in Lebanon is a reality and its path is persistent; and we'll keep on backing it forever and ever," Geagea added.
"Society can't rise without a potent and effective State, but in case some want an imaginary State so that they remain practicing the jurisdiction of the State in shadow of such a perspective, then they are very mistaken because the majority of the Lebanese people don't approve that."
